We will begin by looking at a selection of your work and sketchbooks, discussing your ideas, where you see your work progressing, what you would like to achieve and how I can assist you.
Who is One-to-One Tuition for?
Each tuition session is tailored to the individual, to suit a range of abilities from complete beginners who are intimidated by group lessons, to students of any age needing extra support, to new emerging artists who have creative block or who want to learn a new technique.
I am happy to tutor/mentor:

Adult Tuition
Joining a group class can be a little intimidating for many adult beginners, especially those who have not drawn or painted since school. One-to-One sessions can help you learn some technical skills and gain confidence with a patient and enthusiastic tutor.
One-to-One sessions are also perfect for those who wish to learn how to work in a new medium or subject matter, need more specialised or rigorous tuition on a particular subject or require assistance with a specific project.
The pacing, length and frequency of your lessons, are suited to you. Along with the art materials / subject matter and way in which you learn. I can provide step by step demonstrations, set weekly/monthly activities, feedback and critiques on your artwork, and wider art advice/guidance.
School, College and University Students
I can offer support to students of different ages (from 8 years old upwards) and levels in creating portfolios, achieving art qualifications or simply enjoying an after-school hobby while gaining drawing and painting skills. I am also happy to offer advice to prospective mature students.
I encourage Student’s independent study and can teach them both practical techniques and art history, to supplement their formal studies. I can help each student develop and improve their use of sketchbooks and project work and enable them to show their creative thinking more clearly.
I can demonstrate an extensive range of different drawing and painting techniques. Guide you through a project from brief, initial ideas, trials and experiments, idea development and final piece. I will also talk through how to annotate and present your work. When talking through a project I will encourage experimentation and creative thinking while keeping you on track so that you can achieve your aims.
